Meet Billy Bob!

Plaid was chosen for our goat's blanket because it was the fashion of our goat's period. Immigrants brought their fabrics to our country, and the industrial revolution provided mass production. Looff and many other immigrant carrousel carvers added plaid blankets to their carrousel figures.

Carrousel artists were never allowed to sign their work, so they often found other ways to leave their marks. In the case of our goat, the artist chose the Armstrong Tartan, a plaid pattern representative of her ancestry!

The plaid will be laid out in steps, using chalk lines to help design its folds.
