Cracks in the Joints Can Be Expansion Cracks (Caused by Paint and Wood Expanding at Different Rates)or Breaks
The log book was checked and this crack has been logged for several years. It is still considered an expansion crack as there in no movement of the two joined pieces of the leg.
It is also located where there may be pressure placed on the foot either while the rider climbs aboard or during the ride. Notice the hoof position adjacent to the stirrup.
