Wear or Damage Can Pop Up in Unexpected Places

Click to display the next picture

This damage appeared as a half circle shaped bubble in the paint. When investigated with the tip of an Exacto knife, the entire piece, including both wood and paint as shown, popped off. This will be noted in the log book, as it may be caused by pressure on the belly plate adjacent to the damage. Or, it may have been caused by moisture that has traveled down and under the surface of the paint, causing the wood to expand and the paint and fiber to bubble and pop.

It is less than 1/4 inch, so waterproof modeling paste will be used to fill the area.
